Pickup at hotel at 6:00 am to visit the valley of Majes which is located 3 hours from Arequipa. In Corire of Majes are scattered about 500 large blocks of volcanic rock, and near Toro Muerto whole petroglyphs are located in the district of Urachal about 7km away.
Among the zoomorphic figures which can be seen are mammals, birds, reptiles and fish, many of them anthropomorphic. In Querulpa we will visit the district where dinosaur tracks were discovered.
These are traces of huge prehistoric animals that inhabited the area; they likely belonged to a plinth, Sauri, a huge animal weighing between 8 and 10 tonnes. Today we can see their footprints petrified in a small area but the footprints are numerous and it is presumed that there are more hidden.
After our visit we taste a delicious avocado typical of the area served with shrimp, and then return to Arequipa.
